The farm is bang opposite a former WW2 airfield that was decommissioned in 1947 and used as a transit car park to store new Triumph’s prior to shipment to wherever. That’s where the rust started. I well recall Saturday mornings in the 60s at Honeybourne doing stock checks and looking for cars the delivery companies had “lost”. To the best of my knowledge, every engine made by BL group companies (and as independents before that) leaked oil and even when they weren’t running! We Brits always like to give our valued export customers an unanticipated ‘little extra’ if we can as a loyalty bonus.
