      If you can hold the shift lever to one side or push fore/aft a tad
      and it stays engaged,,,,it's mostly likely an interlock switch
      wear issue.</p>

          switch back to 4th she behaves normally. I'll first check
          where the OD sub-harness meets the wiring that goes up the
          shift lever. In that space several wire bunches are scrunched
          together.</div>

                  from you or is it necessary for you to re-engage each
                  time?  If it is the former it might be something as
                  simple as the adjustment of one of the interlock
                  switches on top of the transmission.  If it is set
                  right at the ragged edge of actuation it can be
                  switching from open to closed to open just due to the
                  vibrations.  Also check the wiring for a loose or
                  poorly crimped connector.  <br>

                        overdrive. After some work behind the dash
                        instigated by my recovering the center console,
                        on the very first drive OD would not stay

                        immediately begin to flip in and out, not
