I cannot speak to TR3 gaskets, but I find that the cheaper gaskets sometimes need "fettling" to fit properly. I see this all the time with the manifold gaskets for TR6 and there have been times when there was no choice available - just available. I chose "available" so I could drive the car. The cheaper gasket ate 2 hours of my labor to fit. The stud holes were off by 1 / 8 inch, plus or minus.
