That definitely is a car with a broken leg! I’ve never done
any work on an MG but I’ve never heard of a pre-load of 101
ft.-lbs. for front wheel bearings. All of our farm tractors,
about 10, from a Farmall H to a Deere 4250, use the common
specification of “hand tighten to a slight drag, and then
back off to the nearest castellation”. That’s what I have
done on all of our cars and trucks over the years and it
seems to work.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
