Tip for getting the block on/off the engine stand without a hoist:

Set the engine in the back of a station wagon or low SUV/truck and
put the mounting bracket on the block. Jack up the vehicle so the
mounting tube is higher than the receptacle on the engine stand.
Lift the stand onto the engine bracket. Lower the vehicle and now
the engine is in the air on the stand.<br>
<br>
The attached picture shows part of the process.<br>
<br>
I borrowed a hoist to remove the engine and put it on a stand. I
then disassembled as much as possible and put it in the back of the
car, disassembled the rest, and took the block to go get hot tanked
at the machine shop. I brought it back and partially assembled it
in the back of the car then with the process above, put it back on
the stand. The only time the block actually had to be lifted was at
the machine shop.<br>

Save your backs. I remembered the TF6 block at 125lb and the crank
at 70lb.<br>
