<html><body><div>The K&N are a mixture of both, and an oil spray on the filter as well. I know the stock black air filters with a steel mesh are not that great. I'd bought those and before installing them I was told to hold them up to a bright light. I could see several spots of light coming through. If I can see that, it's big enough for dirt to come through. Hit the inside fender. I then called K&N directly and talked to a guy, because the TR3 wasn't listed.
