I’d wash the inner drive cable in a degreaser, then when dry, pull the cable several times across the palm of your hand into which there is a small puddle of lightweight machine oil – 3 in 1 is ideal. Then refit with a new outer sheath or the original one, as long as it’s very clean inside. Of course, you could fit a new inner cable and outer cable sheath but lube the cable as suggested before fitting.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'>Needle bounce is often caused by dirt and old lube contaminating the speedo head. May be sensible to send off the whole speedo assembly for professional cleaning and possible repair<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class=MsoListParagraph style='margin-left:0cm;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-US'>Optimistic/pessimistic speedo reading. Are your tyres likely to have a different rolling radius to the original spec?
