It was actually aft the firewall a little bit. Then on a 114 degree F day in the Mojave desert a wire broke right at the fuel pump housing. I pulled off the side of the road, got the car stuck in the sand and it wouldn’t run to get out of the sand. I couldn’t jack the car up high enough to get to it and I couldn’t reach it from the top. Not my best day.

I ended up mounting my next pump under the car under the rear seat area in my 60 TR3A. There is a good open flat place with lots of room for pump and filters. If I feel like getting to it I can jack up the car a little bit and take off the left rear wheel and there it is without having to get on my back by the muffler.

I currently have a Facet pump and it periodically makes loud knocking sounds like a woodpecker on a steel pole. I can’t stand it and it is on my list of things to get to after I finish the Morgan, the Renown and my BMW R60 motorcycle… I have used a generic pump from NAPA on other cars and been very happy with the smooth running.
