Hi, TeriAnn. I've been running the metal Facet pump for about a dozen years. Flip the key on, you can hear it, but engage the starter and the engine is running I can't hear it. I mounted it just in front of the rear driver wheel well, on the frame, with rubber vibration dampers. I carry a spare in the trunk. It's quick to pop on, quick to pop off in case of failure, which happened once. I think Randall all that time ago suggested running it through the manual pump so if one stopped the other could pick up?

Terry Smith, '59 TR3A
New Hampshire

I somehow mounted the mechanical pump on my old 4a so that it was off the cam, but I actually hamfistedly bent the arm on that one so the cam wasn't hitting it. Doesn't sound like it is doing anythithing that drastic. Prime it?

Pump is working. Both interior & primer handles pump the pump,
but somehow the CAM is not pumping the interior lever no matter how
squarely I remount the pump
I removed the fuel pump on my TR3 to get out an olive that was stuck in
the outlet. Put the pump back on the engine & the pump didn't pump. The
pump went on square and easily with no fit problems. Removed, replaced
5 or 6 times still no pumping.
Priming leaver works fine, lever inside the engine works fine when the
pump is removed, CAM on CAM shaft appears to be OK. The only thing I can
think of is that the lever is going to the side of the CAM, but it looks
square to the pump's mounting service. There are 2 springs that centre
the inside lever, and one feels a little weaker than the other but the
lever appears centered on the shaft.
I've R&Red pumps half a dozen times previously and never had this
problem. Suggestions?
I'm looking at the Facet fuel pumps. One in the metal body, one in a
black plastic body. I know the one in the black plastic body is really
noisy. Any idea if the one in the metal body is any quieter? And yes I
know about the rubber mounts.
