Certainly the engine number will bear no<br>resemblance to the original number. That said, if the car was shipped to the<br>US for sale as a new car, the recon unit could well be of US recon origin.<br>There comes a point when shipping old major units cores back to the UK for<br>rebuilding and then return doesn't make too much economic sense. Where my<br>memory is now failing me is whether the very early Razor Edge Renowns had<br>the wet liner four unit? Grateful if someone can enlighten me because I've a<br>niggling feeling the early 1800cc cars used a pre-war block and a new (very<br>short term use) ohv head prior to the launch of Vanguard in 1948. That's why<br>the earliest Ferguson tractors built in Coventry used Continental engines<br>because the Vanguard unit wasn't ready for release in the car or tractor.<o:p></o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'>Jonmac<o:p></o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'>-----Original Message-----<br>From: Dave Hogye [<a href="mailto:dlhogye@comcast.net">mailto:dlhogye@comcast.net</a>] <br>Sent: 22 February 2017 00:11<br>To: John Macartney <<a href="mailto:john.macartney@ukpips.org.uk">john.macartney@ukpips.org.uk</a>><br>Cc: Michael Marr <<a href="mailto:mmarr@albiontechnical.com">mmarr@albiontechnical.com</a>>; Randall <<a href="mailto:TR3driver@ca.rr.com">TR3driver@ca.rr.com</a>>;<br><a href="mailto:triumphs@autox.team.net">triumphs@autox.team.net</a><br>Subject: Re: [TR] FW: What the HEAD is it?<o:p></o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif";color:black'>The Triumph RazorEdge Vanguard head that I have has the same numbers cast<br>under the thermostat extension.
