Agreed!!! VERY good advise (Dave mentions here)

I've installed tops 'warm' and yes...great for wrinkle reductions
and taut fit.... BUT... ALL tops will shrink a bit. so installing
them WARM.... be warned, when cold, and a couple years from now...
they will be REAL tight trying to put them up.

I wouldn't install them COLD either. For me.... the happy medium
has been 60-70 degrees.

might I suggest the following:
..install but with clothes pins/clips only. Pull it taut and
adjust as needed to get it smooth without overly tight. Let it sit
a day/two. It will stretch a bit (flatten out) Then adjust as
desired, and install and fasten as per instructions.

BTDT... ten+ years on one in paritcular now, and it still goes
up without issue and the window edges (at your shoulder) still
snap on easily and STAYS snapped as designed.

ymmv ;-)
This is one of my pet peeves. Folks say you must wait for a
warm, sunny day to put the top up. I say no, you need to be
able to put it up when you NEED to put it up, such as when
you are on a fall color tour drive and the clouds roll in
and it starts to rain. I had a top installed one spring
(cool weather) and it fit just fine and it went up
regardless of the weather.
Subject: Re: [TR] TR4A Soft Top Installation

I am not an expert either, but used the information on the
buckeye site and VTR <a moz-do-not-send="true"

(scroll down) to fit my TR250 top and it turned out fine. I
actually like the VTR site better for this particular how to.
Basic instructions, do it on a warm sunny day, in the sun,
find the side to side center of the top, start from that
center in the back and work forward. sidewalk chalk is your
freind.

I think the main difference between the 4a and 250/6 top is
the velcro seals on the sides, otherwise pretty similar.
> Folks,
> Looking for some expertise on this subject. I am
beginning to install a Robins top on my TR4A. The closest
instructions I have found was a Buckeye Triumphs article on
installing a soft top on a TR250/TR6. Much of the article is
useful, but not meant for a TR4A. My thoughts for the webbing
is to attach them to the rear retainer bar, bolt the bar to
the body and fit the webbing. Have the old webbing to help
locate the frame ribs. Fitting the rear of the top to the bar,
after it's unbolted, seems straight forward. The top has a
fold at the rear that will set the position of the bar and
Lift-the-Dot studs. I am less sure on how to handle the the
front. Based on the old top, the front flap is is folded over
the one piece steel channel seal and riveted to the header.
And there is a rubber seal to be attached. Any suggestions on
how to do this and get a tight top will be greatly
appreciated. I claim no expertise. Any comments are welcomed.
