Some head fasteners are one time torque and stretch the fastener during installation. Other's like our head hardware can be reused multiple times.<div><br></div><div>For what it's worth, I don't back off the nuts for the sole reason of fear of breaking the head gasket seal. It's a fear - not sure its validated. I give a pull on each of the nuts with the torque wrench at the specified torque. - Last engine rebuild, I got some movement on most of the nuts. My 2 cents.</div><div><br></div><div>Update - , my reused Payen head gasket on my TR4 is going on 4 years with no problems. I did coat both sides with copper spray before installation - your results may vary. Speaking of which... I should order a spare headgasket :)</div></div>
