together a conversion kit based on various instructions I found on the web. Do
a search on "Replacing generator with a GM alternator in a Triumph"
and you'll find several variations of how to accomplish the job.

The key components are a Delco 10Si alternator (used on roughly a billion GM
products and available anywhere) and a wide pulley that I got from an
agricultural machinery supplier. The alternator required some trimming of the
mounting boss to get the belt alignment right, but its very simple. I directly
wired the alternator output to the battery via a heavy duty fuse hidden inside
the gutted voltage regulator case to avoid any issues with stressing out the
wiring harness. I also recall installing a resistor in parallel on the
generator light to get the alternator to kick in at a lower RPM.

It works great and is completely reversible if a future owner ever wants to
experience life with a 19 amp generator.

Good luck.
