Just a guess but they loved spot welds so it may be spot welded. If that is the case it is just a matter of finding the spots and drilling them out. I did that on my TR6 when I replaced the hump on the parcel shelf with a flat piece. I now have a flat parcel shelf. (The IRS doesn't need the hump.)
