It?s a tight fit, but I didn?t raise them up. Currently I have the drivers seat out of the car so if you?d like, I can take some photos of what I did and send them to you. BTW, yes it?s not original equipment, but I?m so glad I installed Miata seats. Not only for comfort, but when driving the car spiritedly, the stock seats didn?t hold either the driver or the passenger in place. The curve of the stock seat back would flex. The driver would have to use the steering wheel to hang on to stay in position, and with the banjo steering wheel, that flexed so it didn?t help much making it a bit of a struggle . When I'd ride as passenger with my son on a weekend rally, I?d hook my arm outside the door to stay in place and not be sliding into the driver. WhenI got my Miata seats at a Pick & Pull, I also got the retractable 3-point seatbelt. I had a custom roll bar installed down to the frame and mounted the seatbelt bracket to the roll bar. I also installed a Moto-Lita steering wheel which doesn't flex. Those three things vastly improved the driver experience. I am going to let my body guy take it out and put in a new box. The acquisition of this car was described in a recent issue of TRA Magazine; the gray car acquired out of Bulverde, TX. It is an LO car; otherwise I would not have given it a second look. It is also described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJruEFYdT3k The engine has already been rebuilt; the overdrive unit was moved to a TR6 transmission and both rebuilt. I am currently in the process of taking it apart; it will go to Dip-Strip Technologies in Brenham, TX. Then new battery box and a few patches and body cleanup - for example the hole for the antenna and the holes for wing mirrors (there are several) will be welded up. Then paint and interior and assembly. I plan to go with the light blue exterior and dark blue interior with white piping. I had to remove a dozen tack welds to pry the old box out. TRF supplied a new one. The top lip of the box has to be fitted up under the cowl while the front lip of the box has to be able to clear the leading edge of the box opening. I don?t know what the factory was thinking when they designed these boxes but the installation of the new box may require you to bend the sheet metal until you can get the box into the hole and under the cowl, then ?massage? it back into shape before welding it in?. I really like the look of the originals especially with refreshed hub caps and shiny trim rings. I refinished those original wheels and swapped them in (and all new wheel studs of the proper length). With the wire wheels, I had very little noticeable negative camber in the rear (although I know it's normal, and my previous '6 displayed that stance proudly). But, to my surprise, after swapping to the original wheels, the negative camber was much greater and much more noticeable! Should I have expected this? I suppose the centerline of the tires might be pushed out a bit compared to the wires, and the tires I have now are wider than the redlines that were on the wire wheels. Just curious ;-) Lee From dave at ranteer.com Mon Nov 10 17:43:08 2025 From: dave at ranteer.com (dave northrup) Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2025 00:43:08 +0000 Subject: [TR] windshield wiper motor rebuilding Message-ID: <4cf3e637a4084e068027b4d21db6535e@ranteer.com> Who is the goto person for this? 58 TR3A -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
