Alternately, you can order the switch from Moss Motors (P/N 181-980). I ran my wires through the cabin to the right side and along the main wire harness. A more discrete installation.

Hi Dave,Here’s the info on the mechanical stoplight switch conversion for the TR3:
The switch came from Amazon:

The threaded shaft fit perfectly in the master cylinder support frame. It only came with one nut but a quick trip to the local hardware store secured a couple more. It’s metric: 10M - 1.25 thread.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks to all who responded.
As suggested by some, I’ve decided to go with installing a mechanical switch up in the master cylinder area.
I’ll likely remove the hydraulic switch and put a brass plug in its place.
Can’t see the merit in continuing down the hydraulic path knowing that short term failure is assured.
I’d like to have more assurance that the brake lights will function when I need them. Also, I prefer having the lights come on at first pedal movement rather than when the brakes are already engaged.
The wisdom of the list is always appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
