I don't know the value, but at 8" wide they are probably not going to fit
without some modifications or spacers.

I have 7" wheels on my TR250 and need small spacers in the front so they
don't rub.

The photo for the width should show the location of the end of the tape.
The tape end should be on the inside of the rim, where the tire contacts
the rim. Wheels are measured inside the rim.  Also, it is likely that the
size of the wheel is shown somewhere on the wheel itself.

If is a Mk3 and the engine has not been changed, it should be a small journal 1296.  That said, there were a few Mk2's built in 1967 and they will have a 1147.  You can tell the difference by looking at the top of the block on the left hand side towards the rear.  In a cut-away section of the head, you will find the engine serial number.  The 1147 starts with FC and the 1296 starts with FD.  (Later Mk3 engines were FE).

This one obviously doesn't have the overdrive.  The gearbox itself doesn't have much value, but as the seller says, it comes with the main shaft and adaptor plate - and I think the price is reasonable.

An untested non-synchro gearbox with overdrive - probably $1000

A fully rebuilt, bench tested and guaranteed unit - $3000

Late TR6 gearboxes are the most sought-after.

Just my thoughts - others may disagree.

Hello all.

I have a special favor to ask.  This August, specifically August 27th, we are having a party for my older brother in Asheville.  He will be 78.

He owned a TR3a in college and for a few years beyond.  It was BRG with a red interior.  He still remembers it fondly and talked often about maybe getting another Triumph.  At this point that is unlikely.

Its probably his fault that I am so involved with British cars, specifically Triumphs. (I'm not complaining!!)

I was hoping that there is someone in the area who could give him a ride in a TR2/TR3/TR3a/TR3b.  Its going to be hot, so probably evening or morning is better.  Could be the 26th, 27th, or 28th.

I'll be arriving Monday afternoon the 26th and leaving Wednesday morning the 28th.

We all will be staying at the Hayward Park in Asheville.

I'd be happy to pay for any reasonable expenses including a meal or two while you are there.

Just saw the Bob Marley movie One Love and saw a 1973 red TR6 with a tan top in a couple of different scenes in the courtyard at his Villa in Jamaica. Fun to see as I?ve been there four times. I saw a purple Stag there on one trip.

I was in Jamaica for 9/11 which was a different experience than most had on that fateful day. We watched the same coverage for hours on the limited Jamaican TV and with a ?there?s nothing we can do? attitude we went to the beach.

	I just  had my differential rebuilt and before I replace the hub bearing and reinstall it  I checked the spline and found that there is some lateral movement.  My problem is that I don?t know how much play is too much.

We are building a TR3a using the car in this video as inspiration

No front bumper, fog lights (instead of driving lights), Brookland racing screens, 6" wheels, etc.  I'm going with a spare that will fit in the spare tire compartment.  And we are doing an aluminum center gage cluster and an aluminum shift knob.  I have a friend with machining tools!

My adult son wants to put a front air dam like on our TR6.  I think we can cut it in the middle and make it fit.  I have a body shop guy who can "weld" plastic.

Has anyone done this?  I'm not sure I like the idea; comments welcome!

Those rear hubs can be dangerous, especially when worn. if it feels loose,
I'd do something about it.  My friend Jack Mac put the fear of God in me
with stories of failed stock rear hubs......

I updated the hubs with goodparts version when I rebuilt the diff and boxed
in the diff supports.

Those rear hubs can be dangerous, especially when worn. if it feels loose,  I'd do something about it.  My friend Jack Mac put the fear of God in me with stories of failed stock rear hubs......

I updated the hubs with goodparts version when I rebuilt the diff and boxed in the diff supports.

   I checked the play in the sliding member on the half shafts and they seem to have  acceptable and look to be in good shape so I?m going to install a pair of Goodparts hubs.   Best
