[TR] advice needed on chains for pulling engine

I’m not an engineer who calculates such things but I will give this a big nope. 4 chains will need to carry the 1000 lb load - but it is unlikely the load would be balanced perfectly on each chain so at least one would exceed the 250lb limit. In the real world I guess you could consider what safety factors are used to define chain strength but regardless I think it’s true that each chain would see different weight.

Lets say I have a 1000lb engine. Will I be able to lift this engine from one point on the engine and one point on the engine hoist?
Now, if I lift the same engine from 4 points, and one point on the engine hoist, can I get away with using a chain rated at 250 lb?
