We had to pull the engine out and do a rebuild (ouch!!!)
Left the tran in because, well, seemed like a good place to store it! the car is sitting on an EZLift with a 2x4 across holding up the tran
Engine is coming back this week, and I'm thinking if I move the tran back a few inches (disconnect the driveshaft and tran mount), then we can slide the tran back into the engine.
The engine is really easy to remove w/o the tran and I'm thinking it should just drop right back in. we've done the tran R&R so many times we should be able to slide it back into the engine. I just don't want to go through the hassle of pulling the tran and then trying to install them together, trying to get the tran under the scuttle then back into the car. Seems like way too much work when I think this will work.
Does this make sense or am I missing something? The seats, dash support, and tunnel cover are still out. carbs and exhaust manifold will be installed after engine is in place.
