Sure can, with catastrophic results. Driving back from TRF’s Summer Party a few years back, I was driving my TR4 and my wife was driving her TR6. Fortunately, she knew to regularly monitor those gauges and as we switched from Hwy 403 to Hwy 401 (our version of the Interstates), she saw the oil pressure drop to “0”. She immediately signalled for me to pull over. A check revealed the source of oil loss. Topped it back up with a few litres of oil and by the time we drove to the garage (less than two miles away), the oil had completely emptied again.
Cheers

Subject: [TR] TR6 Oil Pressure Switch
My ‘74 TR6 keeps ‘anointing’ my driveway… Sigh… I thought at first, that the oil pan gasket was leaking but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The oil pressure switch however (Moss 760-200, 3-lead switch), is pretty wet with oil, now that I’ve returned from a short, 10-mile drive. Not to sound too terribly naive but, do oil pressure switches leak/give up the ghost like that? Anyone else have that problem?
