But it was the crews of these cars that intrigued me as they were all dressed a l?epoque de 1265 with swords, spears, clubs and longbows leaning against the two cars, while eating in their fingers from a number of opened packets of fish and chips strategically placed on two soft tops, as the Spitfire decanted it?s own smokescreen to add to that of the campfires. I?m guessing a tourist would want to photograph this scene but to me it was all quite normal - just a bit of period confusion perhaps but so typically British. I replaced all my small gauges with AutoMeter electric gauges for about the same price or less. They look very similar to the original units and have beveled glass but with orange needles. A TR4 t-stat housing will work if you can't find a TR3 unit. They are slightly different in appearance. I think the TR4 housing is die cast, might be pot metal and TR3 looks sand cast and is aluminum. I believe TR4s had an electrical temp gauge that is otherwise exactly like a TR3. In that gallery are some detailed photos of how the driving lights are mounted to rounded-off pieces of aluminum angle iron bolted to the bumper arms. The Lucas driving light trim rings are "clocked" in the canted housing to orient them upright. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-xZRhgjt/0/86f2be98/X3/i-xZRhgjt-X3.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-GbB4KCF/0/349e44c6/X3/i-GbB4KCF-X3.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-xcMSSqk/0/33710972/X3/i-xcMSSqk-X3.jpg On Wed, Aug 30, 2023 at 10:32?AM dave northrup wrote: > Has anyone fabricated the brackets that hold the racing lights on like in > this picture? I do recall that you told me you would turn 65 during the charity drive in uncle jack and would be able to ride the buses for free upon your return to the UK. I regret to inform you that Susie left this realm on 25 August. I am proud to inform you that Susie's last outing was in uncle jack at a car show in Minneapolis on on 20 August. The show was for the benefit of The Lift Garage, a shop that does first-rate safety repairs at cut-rate prices for the working poor. Here, a failure of an automobile can trigger homelessness. We made a substantial contribution, and will encourage folks here to do the same instead of flowers when we announce a Celebration of Life for Susie. -- Phil Ethier West Side Saint Paul Minnesota USA 1973 Triumph Stag LE22439UBW "uncle jack", Sapphire Blue -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
