 Another possibility is sticky splines in the halfshafts.  Be sure those are clean and well lubricated.

In my case as well, after checking everything in the rear end and deciding it must be the differential I discovered one of the transmission mount bolts was loose (gone actually).  There is a lot that can cause a clunk in the rear, but don't rule out other possibilities.

diff mounts/brackets/pins looked good so didn't weld support panels in.

still getting a noticeable clunk when I let the clutch out from a stop.  The
noise is behind me so has to be in that driveline.  Any thoughts of next
steps for identifying where it is coming from.
