[TR] TR6 starter bolt

I'd consider going the full monty and helicoil the holes for the transmission mounting, too.  This bolt-and-loose-nut business is so unprofessional.  Next time I pull it apart...
Of course, the problem is those engines are just so durable.

I did both bolts on the race car and it saved a lot of hassel at the race track when a starter failed. If putting the helicoil in the engine plate I would use fine thread, for the tranny case I would use course. The advantage of in the engine Plate, is you can remove the tranny without removing the starter. Any thing to make a job easier when working by yourselfAt the track and saves time.   Dean T.  Sent from Mail for Windows 10  From: dave

Subject: [TR] TR6 starter bolt  The starter motor is out right now; it failed me a couple weeks ago and with all the bad weather I’m still waiting for the replacement to arrive.  Am really thinking of putting a helicoil in that top hole.  Its 5/16 24 (fine thread).  Anyone else done that?  It looks like I can do it without removing anything else.  Should I do it in coarse?  Any advice?  ** triumphs at autox.team.net **
