Rye,

Which Hardi pump are you using? I’ve been looking at those.

The Facet I had was mounted on rubber and it was crazy loud. The Hardi is not loud at all which my local shop told me, and another Triumph club member had installed the Hardi pump in both his TR4s. Very quiet.

Most electric fuel pumps are loud. Be sure to mount it on a pad of some kind. But – you really can’t hear it above the engine.

What brand pump are you installing?

When I converted my 1960 TR3A to an electric fuel pump I went with a Facet mounted below the fuel tank but it was really loud. My local shop, British Motorsports, recommended the Hardi fuel pump. You can mount if by the fuel tank or in the engine compartment. It will push or pull and is very quiet. Initially I installed it in my engine compartment, but later on I wanted to install a coolant overflow bottle and needed the room, so moved it to the back, so I’ve had it do both. https://www.hardi-automotive.com/en/products/fuel-pumps/

Stuart,

I mounted my pump at the rear of the boot well. Remember filter before the pump. I replaced the mechanical pump with a regulator with gauge. Some one on this list sells the plate that blocks off the spot where the pump used to be.

I have the same pump and system on all 3 of my TRs.

58 3, 62 4 and 72 6. No problems in almost 20 years.

Do mount the pump with some rubber washers.
