[TR] Battery Troubles

Bud – That was probably me. My local NAPA dealer gave me that advice. I could check with him next time I’m there (probably in a week or so) to see if it’s a local (Connecticut) facility or somewhere else. I’ll also look at the owner’s manual for my Ford/Solar charger – there used to be a place called, what else, Battery Charger Service.

Someone mentioned in this thread to have an old charger repaired rather than buy a smart charger. Since my smart charger cooked an Optima battery I’d like to get my old reliable one fixed. Where would one take a charger to be fixed?

Thanks

Bud

Schumacher used to be good, but the last couple chargers I bought from them did not last very long. They worked great, till they didn't. I think I got five years out of one and about three out of the other.

Ok, so now I had to go look at my battery charger. It’s made by the Schumacher Electric Company of

Chicago, IL (Hi Ted Schumacher – any relation?). They are still in business and are still making battery

chargers although I’m sure they’re a bit more modern than this dinosaur (it must be close to 30 years old).

No idea where I got it – all I know is it still works and works better that any of the new ones I’ve tried.
