[TR] what cleaning fluid to use on the face of a block before

When I was redoing my cylinder head that has a solid copper head gasket, I was advised to use CRC #5021 Gasket remover.  It removes all types gaskets and sealants.  Worked great!
Available at most regular parts stores.  My local had to order it in, took a day.
