Huh? Both the seal and the deflector belong inside the cover, the fan extension is way out on the front of the pulley, which in turn is on the front of the hub. The only chance for rubbing should be the hub or bolts on the outside of the front cover; or the deflector (slinger) rubbing against the inside of the cover or the seal. I'm wondering if perhaps something got assembled wrong. Of course you remembered to generously lubricate the hub & seal, so it's not the seal running dry. ISTR there is a pin that the cover has to fit over as well. If it's not on the pin, the pin might hold it out far enough to rub on the hub. If all else fails, a light coating of machinists dye on the suspect areas and another quick test firing, should leave distinct witness marks if anything is rubbing. But usually, I'd expect the marks to be visible without the dye. https://amzn.com/B00IKIBAA8 -- Randall From jimstr4 at gmail.com Fri Dec 6 19:17:01 2019 From: jimstr4 at gmail.com (Jim Vass) Date: Sat, 7 Dec 2019 15:17:01 +1300 Subject: [TR] Front Crank seal Message-ID: Thankyou for the replies. I just lay the cover on the bench (flat surface) and go in from the front with a hammer & punch. Easier than trying to hold it down while you pry from the back. ISTR there was one that was pretty badly stuck. It broke under the punch treatment instead of coming out, so I used vice grips to pry it out from the back. I can tell you we changed printers earlier this year - hadn?t anticipated the print quality would be any different - the primary benefit has been a much faster production, i.e. shorter time between the files going to the printer and the magazine landing in your mail box. I was there in 2016 and it was really interesting. But I only saw 1 British car, a newer Land rover, if I remember correctly. I don't know how you are planning on getting there, we went on a "mission" of course as the US still had pretty strict requirements for visas. We flew on a charter from Miami and if you are planning a similar route, be warned the luggage weight requirements are pretty strict, we would never have been able to get heavy front end parts there. You may also have trouble getting them through customs, but I don't know too much about that. Canepa's business in my locale. I have seen this car and I have no financial interest. I just thought the list would be interested in seeing this car. $56,500 might seem outrageous, but it would be difficult to restore a Stag to this condition at that price. I also think that any serious offer would be considered. It has been in their inventory for a while. Canepa is an amazing place filled with world class vehicles. Checkout the website and take a video shop walk. If its not included, don?t show it! I just hate it when I see a car and it says ?no rust.? There?s rust right there in the picture. Or ?surface rust only? and there?s a rust hole or three. People say ?tire has lots of tread.? But how old are they? I have a car with 12 year old tires I?m in the process of restoring. Those tires have maybe 1000 miles on them and they are DANGEROUS!!!
