It was Buffalo, so like you I wouldn’t rule out that you observed physics changing at very low temperatures.

Lucas smoke antifreeze wouldn’t have helped even if I had some …… the car was a ’71 Chevy Impala – Delco electrics! :)

Bill it sounds like the smoke in your car’s wiring froze. Sadly I haven’t seen any Lucas smoke antifreeze from the usual vendors.

Using that logic proves that the wipers and signals stopped working because they knew they were going in for inspection.

Terry, the problem may have nothing to do with your wiring work. It reminds me of my trip to visit my family in Buffalo during the winter in the early 1970's. I parked it on the street during a frigid, windy snow event.
When I went to start it in the morning, it started fine, and I turned on the wipers, defroster, etc. At first everything seemed to be working, but then I started losing the accessories one by one. When the heater defroster stopped working, I decided that I better not try taking it anywhere. Later on, after the sun had a chance to shine on it for a while, I went out to it and everything was working normally.
>From that experience, I am convinced that electrons are allergic to cold snowy weather. :-)
