Funny you should mention that as I saw is too and sent him an email asking the same question.  Perhaps after he recovers from the sale he will reply to us all here.

Hello, everyone.  Happened to be looking at a '59 TR3 on Bring a Trailer and noticed it had a side view mirror mounted on the stanchion.  I can't recall ever seeing that before, but I kinda liked it.  Is this familiar to anyone here?
