[TR] stromberg CD carb metering needle removal

I'm trying to remove the metering needle on my Stag carbs, to replace the O ring, which is leaking dashpot oil.  Ive removed the set screw but the needle is spring loaded into the air valve by a second means.  The ROM and the stromberg overhaul manual talk about several different carbs, some it is just a matter of removing the set screw and that it, others ,like mine, have a spring loaded needle.  It looks like there is a special tool to remove it.  Has anyone done this with this type of spring loaded metering needle, and any words of wisdom?
