I think this is being way over thought. I've used a blunt ended drift and a 
light hammer and just tap a tang lightly and the plug spins off. Same for 
install. Been doing it for the 49 years I've owned my 4A.

I bought mine at Harbor freight but I just looked on their web site and
I don't see them listed any more.  I expect you can get something
similar from Graingers.
