[TR] TR4A horn

Assuming the TR4A is like a TR6, pull the horn button out and look at
the plastic tube with the spring and braided wire. It kind of looks
like an old Bic pen. Mine failed when the wire inside broke. Being
cheap at the time, I replaced the braided wire with some solder wick.
Now the parts vendors have reasonable replacements. You should also look
at the back of the horn button to make sure the contact with the plastic
tube is smooth and clean. If not, clean it with a pencil eraser.
I have a related issue with my GT6 when I put a heavy load on the
steering column, which makes the horn go off, without pushing the
button. For example, a 40 MPH tight sustained turn during spirited
driving or at low speed when turning sharp, like backing out of a garage
into a narrow alley. My thought is that there is something in the
steering column that is shorting to ground, triggering the horn relay
and making the horn go off.
In my case, I suspect the steering column bushings are worn as the
steering wheel has lots of side to side/up and down play.
I look forward to the other answers.

There are dead spots where it doesn’t blow. But the dead spots are not always at the same place. Any ideas as to what is the cause?
