Thanks, Randall. An interesting read.

What we also need to keep in mind is that the "new" tires purchased
online or at your local tire shop might already be a year (or more?)
old by the time you receive them! Not many shops [can] tell you the
age of the tires in their inventory when you are buying and, for that
matter I'm guessing, not many of us even think to ask ...

This is like shopping at your local supermarket and checking for "best
by" dates.... Caveat emptor....
