Printed this email last October and figured I would get around to checking
it, yesterday.
I have a Denso alternator and the terminals are "B" for the post and three
spade connectors "E", "F" & "N". Cannot seem to get anything to run the
light, except on fulltime.

Depends on the alternator you used. Most of them (all the ones I've used)
still have an output for the dash light, and it's just a matter of running a
wire for it.
Labeled either 'L' or 'D+' in the attached diagram. Often the letters are
on the alternator (but sometimes hard to read).
