Hmm. I stand corrected, Andrew is right, concave side out. I have a
partially disassembled engine that may have never been fully apart and
that's how it's installed on that one. I've been doing it wrong all these
years.

Concave side in. Outer ring has a larger gap between the sprocket and the
slinger.
