On earlier ones, the posts were different sizes (again the large one for the
yellow wire). I don't recall the exact sizes offhand, but the armature post
is close to 1/4" while the field is close to #10. (Both are actually
British threads.)

Kind of makes sense, since the armature connection has to carry roughly 20
amps; while the field is only 2 or 3 amps.

The armature connection is slightly closer to the center, but only slightly.
