[TR] TR4 chassis question

I recently bought a TR4 for restoration.  The body was just sitting on what
appears to be a very nicely restored chassis. Question:  what are the holes
in the frame just behind the lower A-arms?  They can be seen in the attached
picture.

 

Any advice would be great - thank you.
