[TR] TR6 Heater Bulkhead Connector

I would replace the hoses. The original steel one probably lasted for 
about 50 years. There is a rubber gasket also. Pay attention when you
remove it as to which way the inside tubes face. The hoses only fit one
way.

ISTR that it can be done without removing the glove box which means it is not that much trouble.  A little work head first in the footwell to disconnect/reconnect the hoses, the rest is done in the engine bay.

As for which version, I would say that depends on how long you want the fix to last, whether you think the cool factor of stainless is worth the extra cost (I would) and how quickly you want to get it fixed.  If you can wait a few days for the part to come by mail and if you don't ever want to mess with it again I would suggest your replace it with a stainless steel part with new fasteners and hose clamps.  How are the hoses?   Is it time to replace those?

Could someone give me an estimate of how much pain and time is involved in replacing the heater bulkhead connector. I may just blank it for the summer.


Also should I purchase a stainless, regular steel version or just fabricate one from the old parts using copper pipe?



Serves me right for replacing the leaking heater valve!
