Please do note a TR4a-5-250-6 with IRS is a totally different animal than an live axle TR2-4.  I never felt I needed a rear bar on my solid axle 4a, the rear suspension on the IRS cars is much softer (I assume in response to complaints about the harsh ride in earlier cars).  

My comments related to the later IRS cars, which I am assuming the question was aimed at.
