[TR] Holes? Badges?

I have just noticed 2 small holes, 3.5 inches apart, below the passenger
side stanchion (TR3). See attached pic.   I wish I had noticed them before
the car was painted !

 

I wonder if maybe a previous owner had a badge there.

 

Two questions:  is anyone familiar with a badge which may have gone there?
Does anyone have one?
