[TR] Stag hardtop trim question

I am having similar issues wit the side trim below the side windows.  I bought the trim clips and rivits listed....no way I can figure out how to make them work.  My top had plastic clips on it but they rotted and cracked. Chad in Tulsa71 Stag.

was there a difference in clips that held the lower rear trim in place 
between a Mk1 and 2?

I bought the clip kit,  and it uses  1/8  rivots, but the holes in the 
top are twice as large.
