I was able to get them out in reusable condition, by screwing a tap into the cavity then using a socket and nut to pull the tap & plug out.

Easier to just cut the end off a bolt, and add a slot with a Dremel, IMO.

But I just scrounged some threaded plugs from an older top cover.
