For $8K you should be getting close to race engine quality and  
performance not a stock engine with poor oil pressure.  Even if that  
number included some other items they fixed it seems the problems they  
caused makes that a wash.

I had a race engine done at a shop here in Denver and to get it to the  
put together stage with all the machining, balancing, magnafluxing,  
tanking the block, and specing everything it was less than $1K. Me and  
some friends did the assembly from that point and it didn't cost  
another $7K to get it built to race ready. These guys are playing you.

Some good advice already from the list, stop the credit card payment  
and when they call to whine refer them to your attorney.
