Thanks to all on the advice, it appears (given several adjustments) that Randall hit the proverbial nail on the head yet again. The oil in the dashpot was well below the 1/2 inch above the central spindle. I am using the proprietary dashpot oil, so presuming the grade is correct. Regards John
