For some reason, I took this to be a reference to the angle of the gear 
mesh to the axis of rotation...Those that are straight-cut, or nearly 
so, don't create as much pressure as one that may mesh well off the 
centerline, thus creating a mesh at some acute angle.

But I could be wrong...
