[TR] Wheel Polishing Question

I know this isn't strictly a TR8 question, but I'm sure some of you have
refinished some alloy wheels.

I have 5 loose Stag OEM Alloy wheels that I'd like to make look new or
better. They were dirty, yellowed and had some mild surface
corrosion. The wheels are aluminum color with Black painted recesses.

I media blasted the wheels with glass beads. This removed the yellowed
clear varnish from the unpainted areas.

I then tried to polish the unpainted areas and the lip with a drill
chucked with a buff in it. I used, brown, black and white polishing
compounds. Also Mother's metal polish. They gave the aluminum some
sheen, but not a smooth mirror finish.

So I then took one wheel and media blasted it with Blasting Fine Sand.
This gave the wheel a uniform dulled finish. I retried all the above
compounds, with little success.

I have 6 hours into these wheels and I am still at the beginning. Who
has the wheel polishing secrets to share?

I could just have the entire wheel powdercoated silver, but that would
be a shame.

I'm in the Rochester, NY area, if you can recommend a Shop that can do
this, if I have to throw in the towel.
