I've  tried everything:

SNIP

Does anybody have any idea why the factory went from that straddled to the
non-straddled lever-clevis choke linkage with the TR3? It seems illogical.

It's important not to overlook the fact that SU Carburetter was an independent
OE supplier, like Lucas and Wilmot Breedon. If a car manufacturer specified two
particular carb types, then SU would design the linkages as well. Additionally,
part of the supplier contract would usually say the supplier (SU) reserved the
right to amend or modify its design or specification at any time during the
contract and with prior notice with the client.
