Thanks for the replies. It looked like that was the case but the aperture for
filling the front chamber looks way too small to easily get fluid into. Not
the 
best of designs.

The fluid goes into both
chambers. The small front one is for the rear brakes 
and the large rear one
is for the front brakes. Bleed them in order of distance: 
RR, LR, RF, LF

My car is an ex US
LHD May 1976 model. I have replaced my front pipes and
calipers and want to
bleed the brakes. With the cap off there appears to be 2
chambers as there is
a piece of plastic across the reservoir.

So does  fluid
go into the larger
chamber or does fluid go in to the  very small
opening at
the front too???


I
am more used to the single system master cylinder as on
my Mk3 Spitfire.
