North Carolina is quite an interesting experience. To get a title for an car it must be inspected by a state police vehicle inspector who does know what he is talking about. If he doesn't accept the car you will not even get a title.

As if an inspector ever came near my cars. LOL. Even when I brought in a Caterham Seven from Wisconsin, they just accepted the New-Hampshire-issued ID number from the Wisconsin title. Nobody ever saw if there even *was* a car...
As you say, states differ.
