Just to wish all of you a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful 2012. Last
night, I came home from the other side of Coventry and decided to do a little
detour to the former factory site to see what was going on if anything. These
are my findings:

THE GLUEPOT - otherwise known as the Social Club and the
only building still left standing had opened early for the evening and
appeared to be doing a roaring trade. Maybe it hadn't actually opened and the
people from lunchtime were still there!

THE FORMER ENGINEERING BLOCK - now
proudly occupied by Blockbuster Video and DVD rental, seemed the only place
open and sorely lacking in customers

FLETCH SOUTH - once the location for
Home and Export Sales, plus the Parts Division was just one huge empty car
park and with a modern office block with all the lights blazing and no-one in
it.

HERALD AVENUE was blocked in one lane where a BMW and one of the world's
most popular taxis (you know, those things produced in Germany by Daimler
Benz) had had what looked like a very costly 'coming together.' It was in just
about the same place where three TR6's for the New York Show fell off their
transporter on their way to the docks in 1970. Funny how what goes around
often comes around later, ain't it?

THE HOTEL - once the site of 18 - 26
shops (machining and heat treatment) was also pumping the alcoholic contents
of its cellars down the throats of the occupants of cars in it's parking
lot...

... and just around the corner, a police car awaited for a DUI - or
two. Just like the old days really - except for the fact that there was
probably less booze on those 95 acres yesterday than in days past when you
probably could have floated the whole site on what went out of the gates as
'thank you' presents 'for business this year' on Christmas shut-down day.

Have a great holiday everyone
